The ELC is a child enrichment program designed to create the love of learning with a partnership between parents and teachers.

Through discovery, growth, nurturing and creativity the children develop their highest potential.

Suzanne  Curriculum Support "I earned my B.A. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Language Arts in 1991.  After working as a preschool teacher upon graduation, I decided to stay in the field of early childhood education.  Over the past 22 years, both in Aspen and my hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, I've been a teacher of children ages one to five years old. On the side, I am a private tutor of reading, spelling, and writing for K-8 students. In my spare time I love to read; I especially enjoy contemporary fiction and biographies.  I like to experiment with whole foods recipes, play word games, and do jigsaw puzzles.   I love music of many kinds and hiking."

Yasmin "I am 36 years old, and am from El Salvador.  I am the mother of two girls, one of them is called Keyla  (15) and the other, Lesly (13). I emigrated to the United States about seven years ago, which was difficult because I had to leave behind everything and start from scratch in a foreign country.  I raised my girls myself and have about eight years of experience with babies, toddlers, and teens.  I really like kids, and even though there are tough times, I know that they are critical to our future and for this reason they have my respect."

Leslie Leslie Bixel moved here 11 years ago for one season as a nanny after finishing up a job working in CDC’s in Germany. She got a part time job at the Treehouse (just for a pass) and started teaching skiing and working at the daycare. She loved it so much she never moved home. Leslie went to Western Oregon University to study elementary education. She has been working in childcare for about 15 years. Leslie is excited to start a new adventure at the ELC. Her awesome baby girl is in the Waddler room.

Brenna "I was born and raised in Massachusetts (Go Patriots!), but I knew I belonged in the West. After graduating from high school, I attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins (Go Rams!), where I studied Environmental Communication. While attending school, I got a part time job at a Montessori preschool and knew that's where I had to be. I plan on finishing my degree in Early Childhood Education here at CMC in Aspen and I have been loving every minute of working here at the ELC! I love anything outdoors usually enjoyed with my boyfriend Cody, whether it's hiking, snowboarding, soccer, biking, camping,or rafting ( I'm a certified raft guide!). I love Colorado and the mountains and my dog, Pebbles, and cat, Banjo. My class, the Preschool Explorers, is always off to the next great adventure, so feel free to pop in and see what we're up to!"

"The world is what you think it is”. Hi, everyone!  I was born and raised in Poland.  I moved to Aspen in 2008. I have a daughter Nadia and a son Alek. I also have a beautiful German shepherd named Szarik. He likes to hike and eat our furniture.

I’ve always dreamed of becoming a teacher after watching my mom who was an elementary school teacher. I graduated from the University of Lodz in Poland with a Master’s degree in children’s psychology.  I worked in Poland as a preschool and elementary school teacher as well as a horseback riding instructor.

I am very proud to be a teacher at the Early Learning Center.  I love coming here every day because it doesn’t feel like a job for me. This is an amazing and fun adventure with wonderful children. I love it! I agree with Fyodor Dostoyevsky that "The soul is healed by being with children". During weekends I miss my small friends and can’t wait until Monday when I see them again.

My goal at work is to provide the kids with a safe and happy environment where they will expand their horizons by receiving good education.

I love outdoor activities, painting, and quality time with my family and friends.

Cheyenne My name is Cheyenne Trujillo and I am 20 years old. I have lived in the San Luis Valley Colorado growing up and moved to the Roaring Fork valley in 2015. I went to Colorado Mountain College for 1.5 years. The first year I took photography and decided that anyone could be a photographer with the new phones that were coming out. SO my second year I switch to Early Childhood Education and fell in love. I started working at ELC in August of this year.   I have a 22 year old brother, 3 year old sister and a 6 month old niece.

Our dedicated and caring teachers and administrators hail from all over the world. They are committed to caring for each child as an individual, meeting the children's developmental needs, and creating an environment where children can fall in love with learning.

Office Manager

"Born and raised in Maine, but decided to try a winter in Aspen in 2009 and knew instantly I could call Aspen home! While in Maine I worked toward a bachelors in Business Management and continued my education at CMC, but switched to a degree in Environmental Science. This summer I will also be starting Education Classes at CMC working towards my Directors Certification. I started working for the Aspen Skiing Company and also part-time for the Early Learning Center in 2009, and became a full time Preschool teacher in March of 2016. I'm so excited to be here working with these amazing children and even more amazing teachers. I enjoy watching children grow and learn while preparing them for Kindergarten. I moved to Carbondale with my husband and we had out first child in September. If i'm not in the classroom you'll find me outside enjoying the Colorado weather. "

Cecilia "I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and attended high school in California. I moved to Aspen in 2011 with my daughter, who is a student at Aspen High School. I worked with young children in California, and I'm currently taking classes in child development at C.M.C. I like working with young children because I get to see them go through so many important stages of development. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, photography, swimming and spending time with my daughter."

Sandra Hello, my name is Sandra Ortiz and I have been working at the ELC for two years now. Im happily married and have two daughters, one son, and one grand daughter (pictured). I was born in Chihuahua Mex., and moved to Dallas Tx. in 1996 with my husband and oldest daughter. The rest of my kids were born in Dallas, and we all recently moved to the Roaring Fork Valley in 2014. Living in the mountains is definitely a drastic change compared to living in Texas. However, I love it here and I am excited about all the memories and joyful times to come.

Chris "I grew up in Plymouth, MA. My friend and I decided to move out to CO 10 years ago for a change of scenery and new adventures. We started out in Golden, but fell more in love with the Aspen area. I love all the activities that you can do here right in your "back yard".  Some favorite things: my dog Lucy, making ceramics, hiking, playing basketball, snowboarding, teaching"

Lea "Hi! I am thrilled to join the ELC team as a Preschool A teacher! I was born and raised in Walnut Creek, CA. I love all outdoor activities as well as cooking/baking, DIY crafts and traveling! I received a B.S. in Health Science with a focus in Nursing and hope to someday become a pediatric nurse. I worked as a nanny for a family that traveled in and out of Aspen for many years and fell in love with the adventurous Aspen lifestyle. I moved out to Aspen from California this past winter season and worked as a room lead at The Treehouse in Snowmass, CO and that is what led me to become a teacher at ELC :) I am looking forward to working with the children and families at the Early Learning Center!"

I have been working with kids in schools, camps and outdoor programs for the past ten years. Teaching preschool is my favorite job! It’s at this age that the magic of the world is discovered and I feel so lucky to be a part of that experience every day. When I’m not at school I love to ski, bike and explore the mountains with my partner and our pup Lincoln. I was born and raised in Colorado. I earned a BA in Washington, DC and am now working towards a second degree in Early Childhood Education through Colorado Mountain College.

Katie I am 29 and grew up in Vermont. I graduated with a Bachelor's of the Arts defree from an environmental liberal arts college, Green Mountain College, in 2010. Since then I've been travelling seasonally, working in National Parks and ski resorts. This past winter was my second winter in Aspen with SkiCo. Recently, I started this summer working as the Manager of the Old Faithful Basin General Store in Yellowstone National Park. I found that the field I was working in was stressful and not where I wanted to be.  I moved back to Aspen and started working for the Early Learning Center. I started in mid-july and fell in love with the kids. I couldn't imagine being anywhere else.   I currently have a 2.5 year old niece and a new nephew on the way. They live in Vermont and I miss them terribly!
